Week 1 - Kenya
Nairobi - 1 night (we couldn't leave the hotel due to serious political unrest up the road, read the news before you leave to avoid disappointment)
Narok - 1 night due to car breakdown (yes, that's right, within 2 hours of driving)
Maasai Mara National Reserve - 1 night at a campground near the entrance - highly recommended
Kichwa Tembo Conservancy - two nights at And Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp including the best guided game drives we had the privilege of experiencing
Kiisi - 4 nights at campground due to malaria
Kampala - 4 nights at a city hotel to spend time with Watoto, an extraordinarily kind and effective charity giving homes to orphans and providing women in need with support, skills and resources to start their businesses
Week 2 - Uganda
Kibale National Park - 2 nights at Kyaninga Lodge (a truly hidden gem)
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - 1 night at the official camping ground (very good!) + 1 night at Volcanoes Safaris' Bwindi Lodge (even better) - it is essential to pre-book your national park permits before you go as only 20 visitors a day are allowed to enter (we did this in Kampala a week prior at USD600 per person without any major hassles, but you can also do it from home here)
Week 3 - Uganda + Tanzania
Lake Bunyoni - 4 nights at lakeside campground due to car breakdown - the lake is spectacular (as is the internet's snail speed)
Bukoba - 1 night camping, an underwhelming little town at the edge of Lake Victoria (we did, however, hear about some great islands on the lake that might be worth a visit)
Bunda - 1-night camping
Serengeti National Park - 2 nights turned 3 at the Four Seasons Serengeti(our windscreen combusted, hence we returned for an extra night) - we went in late October and saw the wildebeest migration in full swing
Week 4 - Tanzania
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - 1 night camping atop the crater (unsure if the money and long drive there were worth it to be honest)
Arusha City - 1 night in some dodgy guesthouse
Arusha National Park - one night at Hatari Lodge, Tanzania's answer to a more chill and eco-friendly Giraffe Manor (excellent food and I highly recommend a walking safari)
Shu'mata Camp - one night in the middle of Masailand, a must! (ask if it's market day and if so, go go go!)
Week 5 - Tanzania + Kenya
Amboseli National Park - two nights at Tawi Lodge - not much wildlife due to extreme drought but the elephants left us speechless
Giraffe Manor - one night, worth the money (check availability here)
Nairobi - two nights in town to clean up before flying to Zanzibar - I recommend a visit to the Maasai Markets for last minute souvenirs (see the schedule here), we used Uber to get around without any problems (so cheap!)
